November 30, 2008—Chicago—CoActiv debuts at the Radiological Society of North America Annual Meeting EXAM-Essentials, an innovative, turnkey PACS that enables growing medical practices to transition easily and affordably to complete digital imaging workflow. The comprehensive new CoActiv solution combines all necessary software and hardware to support imaging workflow for a full range of medical specialists, from radiologists and orthopedists to chiropractors and multi-specialty practices.
A plug-and-play solution, EXAM-Essentials installs in just minutes, not days or weeks like other systems, and is supported by most existing IT infrastructures without the need for special
Internet connectivity. It provides an extensive range of traditional EXAM-PACS® modules that support complete digital medical image acquisition, viewing, archiving and CD burning. The EXAM-Essentials’ Server component enables simultaneous acquisition and storage of exams from multiple DICOM modalities. It also supports offsite file communications for
collaboration and reporting as well as optional convenient, secure remote archiving. The EXAM- Essentials Workstation provides worklist-based image workflow management and support and includes a wide range of printing options. The system also provides quick and easy CD/DVD burning.
With state-of-the-art image viewing and manipulation capabilities, the EXAM-Essentials viewer delivers important tools, from window/level and zoom to advanced region of interest (ROI) viewing, multiple image overlays, annotation and more. The application also provides a multitude of system defaults, customizable by users, modalities and workstation.
Complementing full-featured radiology workflow, the new turnkey system offers specialized functionalities for use beyond radiology. For orthopedists, these include distance and Cobb
angle measurements as well as spine labeling and options for the full line of orthopedic templates from OrthoView, as well as specialized fields for customizable information management. In addition, EXAM-Essentials offers a digital viewing, archiving and retrieval platform for radiation therapy-related information, including all seven DICOM-RT extensions. Information is saved in a single integrated patient file for streamlined management. The solution also supports breast-specific gamma imaging (BSGI) files generated by Dilon Technologies molecular breast imaging gamma cameras and other similar specialized devices.
EXAM-Essentials users can upgrade their solution to include CoActiv EXAM-VAULT® QUAD- REDUNDANT ARCHIVING® for automated offsite archiving, back up and disaster recovery. The advanced solution saves data in four geographically separate locations and provides instant exam retrieval, along with HIPAA compliant, audited security. As a managed service, EXAM- VAULT shifts the burden of archive system maintenance to CoActiv’s internal IT experts. EXAM-Essentials’ full hardware package includes a Dell workstation/server with Dual-Core Pentium processor, 500-GB RAID storage (enough for more than 50,000 CR exams), a CD/DVD reader/burner and 20” flat panel display.
