Provides Complete Digital Acquisition, Distribution and Archiving for TB Imaging
June 7, 2007 – Providence, RI – CoActiv Medical™, the innovative developer and marketer ofradiology and related healthcare imaging information technologies, has been selected to supply acomplete digital imaging solution for the Project Renewal ScanVan program serving New YorkCity’s homeless beginning this summer. The ScanVan is the nation’s first mobile clinic ever todeliver both mammography and x-ray imaging, which will be used for tuberculosis (TB)screening.
As part of its not-for-profit outreach, CoActiv will supply its EXAM-PACS®, EXAMNET™ teleradiology and EXAM-VAULT® QUAD-REDUNDANT ARCHIVING™ solutionsfor the ScanVan at a special price. Vans will visit city homeless shelters in all five boroughs andprovide digital x-ray imaging for the people with positive TB skin tests, as well as film-basedmammograms.
When the program converts to full-field digital mammography in the future, CoActiv willalso support acquisition, analysis, distribution, and archiving for these exams, as well as otherfuture modalities as the program expands.
Following an imaging procedure, data will be distributed to Project Renewal’s twocontract radiologists for diagnostic interpretation using CoActiv’s new EXAM-Net teleradiologytechnology. Upon acquisition, images will be automatically sent to a local CoActiv Acquire &Forward™ notebook server in the van and sent wirelessly for temporary storage to a hostedEXAM-SERVER™ in CoActiv’s Tier-IV data center in Tarrytown, NY. From there, the system will automatically route images via the Internet for reading and reporting on the radiologists’workstations using CoActiv’s advanced EXAM-PACS®. All digital image communication willbe secure and fully HIPAA-compliant.
As part of the CoActiv solution, through the EXAM-VAULT® QUAD-REDUNDANTARCHIVING™ system, exams then will be sent for synchronous storage on multi-terabytemirrored RAID arrays in both the NY and the new Stamford, CT CoActiv/Level (3) archivecenters. They also will be stored on removable digital media in two additional geographicallydispersed locations.
Using the CoActiv system, Project Renewal also will have the option of making allexams available to its providing physicians for clinical review through the EXAM-Netteleradiology module. Images also may be sent to referring doctors and specialists forconsultation purposes through CoActiv’s innovative EXAM-SENDER®, which automaticallytransmits both medical images and related medical data to authorized users in a backgroundmode.
