AMSYS President Forms New Company
Ridgefield, CT — Mr. Edward C. Heere, President and CEO of AMSYS,INC. (www.amsys.net) an Information Technology firm located in Ridgefield, CT for almost 20 years, has announced the formation of a new affiliated business, devoted to supporting medical and radiology practices.This new business entity, CoActiv, LLC (dba) CoActiv Medical BusinessSolutions™, will provide software, systems and consulting services to the medical and radiology fields with particular focus on independent imaging centers and hospital imaging departments.
CoActiv Medical Business Solutions™ will be introducing CoActiv EXAMPACS™, a revolutionary new Picture Archiving and Communication System(PACS) at the annual Radiological Society of North America (RSNA)conference, November 30th through December 4th, in Chicago, Ill. This conference and convention is the largest of its type in the world, and annually brings thousands of radiologists, radiological technologists and radiology practice administrators together to attend educational seminars,industry meetings and to discover, view and analyze the latest developments in radiological technology.
CoActiv, LLC facilities are located in the AMSYS, INC. office complex at 900Ethan Allen Highway in Ridgefield, CT, along with AMSYS Computer and AMSYS Consulting, LLC, other AMSYS, INC. affiliated companies.
Mr. Heere will also serve as the President and CEO of the new company and will be joined on the management team by Mr. Roger S. Metz of Newtown, CT who will serve as Chief Technology Officer and Director of Software Development. Mr. Metz has previously served in various IT positions with AMSYS Computer since 1989.
When asked about taking on huge competitors in the PACS field like GE, Siemens, Phillips, Fuji and Agfa, Mr. Heere quipped, “you’re talking to the guy who developed one of the first PCs in the world more than 20 years ago,and took on IBM, a real giant, that virtually owned that industry”… “this is really going to be fun!” he continued.
The company’s founder, Edward C. Heere is one of the pioneers of the IBM PC compatible industry, having designed, sourced and imported one of the first IBM compatible PC systems in 1982. Mr. Heere has more than 35 years experience in the imaging and IT fields. He is heavily involved in numerous philanthropic activities aimed at advancing the causes of business, medicine and intellectual pursuits. He brings his immense talents and energy to the endeavor as a natural expression of his keen interest in these areas.
Mr. Heere says, “We believe that, by reducing the cost, while improving the capabilities of PACS, CoActiv can contribute to reducing the over-all cost of medical care, the financial health and vitality of radiology imaging centers and departments, and the delivery of improved medical care to all our neighbors.”
