CoActiv to Introduce Second-Generation of EXAM-PACS® at RSNA 2005
Ridgefield, CT – CoActiv Medical Business Solutions, a software and systems provider to hospitals and imaging centers for PACS, tele-radiology and DICOM services, will preview the next generation of their EXAM-PACS® enterprise picture archiving and communications system at the 2005 Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) Conference at booth #6429, Nov. 27 – Dec. 2 in Chicago, IL.
CoActiv will demonstrate the significant added features and enhancements of their next generation EXAM-PACS at RSNA 2005 and will officially release the new version in the first quarter of 2006. EXAM-PACS, a software-driven enterprise solution that does not require expensive proprietary hardware, has been continuously updated with added feature enhancements, at no extra charge to existing clients, since its introduction at RSNA 2003. This Second-Generation PACS will also be free of charge to existing clients that are on support contracts. The EXAM-PACS price tag will also not be increased to keep in line with CoActiv’s mission of providing an affordable, flexible and intuitive PACS to both large hospitals and smaller, independent imaging centers.
The CoActiv Second Generation EXAM-PACS includes many new and revolutionary features, among them:
* New Back-End Database - even faster back-end SQL database functionality has been added – providing greater performance, as well as easier and less expensive integration with RIS, HIS and other medical imaging related applications.
* Enhanced Scrolling Speed – to handle the much larger exam series generated by new 32 and 64 slice CT scanners. The scrolling of larger series has been accelerated by as much as 100x – making CoActiv’s EXAM-Viewer possibly the fastest viewer in the PACS industry. This same DICOM viewer is used throughout the enterprise, including by referring doctors and on CoActiv’s EXAM-CDs.
* DICOM Modality Worklist – has been included for RIS/PACS integrations where the RIS or HIS cannot provide this capability.
* Broker-less HL-7 Interface – has been included to provide faster and less expensive integration with any HL-7 compliant application.
* Barcode Mode – allows EXAM-PACS users to instantly find and automatically view an exam by simply scanning a barcode. Should the exam belong to a patient with Prior exams in the system, a listing of all of the Priors is displayed, allowing them to be instantly viewed – along with their Reports.
* New EXAM-Console Functionality – many new features, all with Visual Indicators have been added to EXAM-Console (the EXAM-PACS user interface) – these new features and indicators include:
o Prior Indicator – shows any exams with Priors in the PACS database. Clicking this indicator opens a drop-down listing of all prior exams in descending date order.
o Attached Files – with Indicator showing any exams with Attached Files. EXAM-PACS is the only PACS that allows the attachment of virtually any type of file to an exam. Clicking the indicator opens a list of any files attached to that particular exam.
o Document Scanning – scan any document from any TWAIN compliant sheet or flatbed scanner attached to a workstation. Scanned documents can be rotated, flipped and sized-to-fit – and are automatically added to the exam as an Attached File (see above).
o Exam Notes – with Indicator showing any exams that include an Exam Note. Simply clicking on the indicator will display the Exam Note(s) in a pop-up window. An Exam Note (or notes) can be instantly added to an exam by a user with a simple right-click on an exam listing.
o Voice Notes – with Indicator showing any exams that include a Voice Note. Simply clicking on the indicator will play the Voice Note. A Voice Note (or notes) can be instantly added by a PACS user with a simple right-click on an exam listing.
o Exam Reports – with Indicator showing any exams that include a copy of the Exam Report. Simply clicking on the indicator will display the Report(s) in a pop-up window.
o Exam Priority Indication – STAT Exams now appear in a vivid red color and at the top of any search-list or work-list, calling immediate attention to these important exams. When a STAT Exam is marked as Read, its display status is automatically returned to Normal.
o Exam "Being-Read Status Indication" – exams that are opened-for-read by a doctor located anywhere in the PACS enterprise (anywhere in the world) are now highlighted with a gray background on the PACS exam listing. Any other user opening the exam is presented with an instant, pop-up warning that the exam is being Read by another doctor, along with that doctor’s ID.
* Semi-Automatic Spine Labeling – includes automatic cross-indicators on all other series views.
* One-Button Color Overlay – provides the ability to turn on a color overlay on any image, or series of images, to enhance the presentation of exams.
